LTC to Port Blair to stay at new holiday home


Port Blair, May 20, 2012(UNI): The long pending need for the Central government Employees across the country fulfilled on May 8, 2012 with the opening of Central Government Holiday Home at Port Blair.

Additional Director General of Central Public Works Department (CPWD) R S Sheoran inaugurated the Holiday Home located in the Central government offices complex in Lamabaline, Port Blair on May 8, 2012.

Inaugurating the Home, Mr Sheoran said that the Holiday Home would attract more central government employees to these islands and thereby boosting up the tourism development of the region.

“The government employees find difficulties in getting comfortable accommodation at reasonable rates at Port Blair owing to acute shortage of accommodation in the Administration as well as CPWD Guest houses, “ Mr Sheoran said.

He hoped with the opening of the Holiday Home, the serving and retired government employees will be benefited to a greater extent.

Online booking of accommodation at the home is started from May 18, 2012.
P P Srinivasan, Chief Engineer of CPWD, Southern Region said the long pending dream of the employees has come true with the opening of the Holiday Home in the dream destination. He said the guest house is equipped with the modern facilities such as five star air-conditioners, LCD TV, hot water geyser, intercom and others in all the rooms.

The Holiday Home has 11 double-bedded rooms and four VIP suites and a spacious dining hall. Internet facility is also provided in the lounge to enable the guests to do online booking of their tickets and check their mails.

The booking of accommodation at the home can be made through the website of Directorate of Estates -http://holidayhomes.nic.in/

The serving and retired Central government employees will be charged Rs 150 per day for A/C double room, whereas the employees from state government, Public Sector Units and Autonomous bodies will be charged Rs 300 per day at this Holiday Home.
Hence, the Central Government Employees can go to Port Blair on LTC happily without worries about getting comfortable accommodation at reasonable rates.

Accordingly, Ministry of Urban Development, Directorate of Estates issued the Office Memorandum No. No.D-11016/53/2007-Regions dated May 18, 2012 in respect of booking of rooms/suits of the holiday home.
